It does not collect personal data. Therefore it does not ask for your consent to process and trade in your personal information.
It does not store your IP address. It does look up the first two bytes of it in a locally cached geoip database to see where people read it. The results are wildly inaccurate.
It gathers aggregate statistics on operating system and browser because the author cannot believe that a blog about free and open source software is mostly read on non-free software.
The geoip information is not linked to your visit, nor is the make of your operating system or browser. The site is unable to recognise return visits from one day to the next. It’s basically Memento in web form.
This site does not set first-party cookies unless you prompt it to by
- trying to log in (please don’t)
- asking to opt out of data collection
It will never set third-party cookies. Since it does not set unbidden cookies, it does not ask for your consent to cookies. Please bake and bring your own.
